Frequently Asked Questions
The sidebar keeps getting in my way
You are probably using the sidebar in overlay mode. In this mode, the sidebar slides in when you click the edge of the browser window (or move the mouse there, depending on your settings) and covers part of the website. This can easily happen by accident, for example when you reach for the scrollbar or a button close to the edge.
You can change when the sidebar opens in the extension settings:
- Open it only with the extension icon. The edge of the window then no longer opens the sidebar at all. If you'd like to keep using the edge, you can also switch from a left click to a right click, which is much harder to do by accident.
- Make the area at the edge smaller. By default, the whole edge of the window opens the sidebar. You can reduce it to a small area, for example only the lower part of the edge, and move it to where it doesn't get in your way.
- Add a delay. The sidebar then waits a moment before it opens, so a quick click or mouse movement at the edge doesn't open it right away.
If you'd rather not have the sidebar cover the website at all, try the side panel mode. In this mode, your bookmarks are shown in the browser's side panel next to the website, and they only open when you click the extension icon.
Moving bookmarks via drag & drop is not working
This is a known issue, but it does not affect all users. For most, drag & drop works as expected.
It appears that on some systems (depending on OS, monitor setup, or browser behavior), drag & drop can become unreliable. The current implementation is relatively old and was built at a time when browser support for these interactions was less consistent.
I plan to revisit this feature and replace it with a more robust implementation. This should also resolve the intermittent issues users are experiencing.
In the meantime, if you run into this problem, try refreshing the sidebar. Open the header menu of the sidebar and select “Refresh sidebar”. This clears the cached view, reloads the bookmarks from the browser, and re-renders the tree. In most cases, this fixes the issue.
Contact
You can also contact me if you have a question, are experiencing issues with the extension, or have found a bug. If you just want to say something nice, feel free to do that as well.
Please note that I’m a German developer and communicate in English. Messages in other languages need to be translated, and some meaning or context may get lost in the process. If possible, please write in English.
Also keep in mind that this is a spare-time project maintained by a single developer. The extension has a large user base, so I would really appreciate clear and concise messages that make it easy to understand your issue or request without needing to guess what you mean.
